Description

Bleh. Crappy Gimp test is crappy.
This little guy is a little preview of my new species, known as a Nekoga (nay-KOH-guh)
They are basically cat-like insects and live longer than most natural insects (and are much larger) They have six furry legs and moth-like eyes (although they are usually squinty due to poor vision during the day). Their "tail" is actually their abdomen, and their thorax has a more cat-like build.
Similar to an orchid's habit of displaying traits of another creatures appearance, nekoga tend to have subspecies that appear to have the wings of an existing insect (mainly moths as bees and butterflies are uncommon) and sometimes the markings of an existing cat breed.
Their appearance often depends on their habit. In areas such as Africa. you are more likely to see a nekoga cheetah or lion-like body markings with wings displaying more striking patterns, likely to keep away predators.
Most nekoga are smaller than cats since they are insects of course, but are larger than most known moths. The smallest nekoga (representing a small wildcat) had a wingspan of 11 inches, and the largest up to date had a whopping wingspan of 35 inches,10 in. bigger than the atlas moth--the largest moth in the world!
They also live longer than most moths after they have reached adulthood. After an egg is laid, it will hatch in around a month, for it takes much more time to develop. The 'kittie' as it is often called appears to look very alien-like, sporting a worm-like appearance with many sharp hairs and a small, fanged mouth. Over weeks, it will gradually shed its skin like most insects and grow fluffier. After around 3 weeks of this, it will actually tear off its 'fur' and make its cocoon out of that, which it will hatch from in the spring. It will then find a mate immediately. Unlike a lot of moths and butterflies, it will stay with its mate and children throughout their adult lives, which last for 2-4 years.

Bleh, sucky species is sucky.
